Uta to Run the 2019 Louisa May Alcott Orchard House Run/Walk

Uta is often compared to America’s “First Running Girl”, Louisa May Alcott, so she looks forward especially to joining this annual fun and historic event. As Uta says, “Over 150 years ago, Louisa May Alcott was way ahead of her time. She understood the importance of exercise and running. And now this fantastic group in Concord, led by the indomitable Jan Turnquist, keeps her traditions and healthy lifestyle advice alive.”

This will be the 14th year Uta has served as Honorary Chairwoman for the 5K/10K event. The fun day attracts runners, walkers, “strollercisers,” and wheelchair athletes of all abilities. The event supports the Louisa May Alcott Orchard House, home to Louisa May when she was growing up. The author and her family were devoted to social justice, education and the arts, and youth fitness. Uta and the participants celebrate the 1800’s family for being pioneers in physical fitness and health for both boys and girls.

The now USATF-certified, professionally-timed 10K run takes place on a well-marked course that wends its way through beautiful historic Concord. With ample water stations and healthy snacks provided prior to the start, you will really enjoy joining Uta for a wonderful day of nature and fitness. The event will be held rain or shine, and is a great experience for families looking for fun activities or serious athletes trying for fast times. You can register the morning of the event beginning at 9:30 am.
