Even if you’re doing extreme sports, extreme heat is not your friend. Exertion through sport already raises the body’s core temperature and in combination with the stress of extreme heat, you run the risk of over-heating. That represents a danger for the cardiovascular system which in some cases may lead to fatal collapse.
It’s best, then, on hot days to train in the cool of the morning or evening. If it’s still relatively hot even at these times, go about your training in a relaxed, unstressed manner and avoid intensive sessions. You may also want to cut down the total amount of your training. To beat the heat, make sure you’re taking in enough liquid – always have mineral water and apple juice standing by when the temperatures soar.
